The competent authority of Latvia (Food And Veterinary Service) has published a GDP Statement of Non-Compliance in EudraGMDP dated 19 May 2026, the first entry of 2026.
According to the statement, an initial inspection prior to the issuance of a GDP compliance certificate for a veterinary medicinal products wholesaler identified one critical and multiple major deficiencies. While a CAPA plan was submitted and approved, the deficiencies were not corrected within the agreed timelines and no valid evidence of compliance was provided. The authority therefore made a formal decision to refuse issuance of the GDP certificate.
The authority also states that the non-compliances do not impact the safety, quality, efficacy or integrity of the veterinary medicinal products currently handled, and that no risk to public or animal health was identified. Consequently, no product recall and no suspension of ongoing activities were deemed necessary.
This case highlights the importance of addressing inspection findings within agreed timelines, in a traceable manner, and with robust supporting evidence. An approved CAPA plan alone is not enough. What matters is timely implementation and documented effectiveness demonstrated to the authority.
